There is no shortage of silverware on Karl Sutton’s shelves at home having accumulated several major honours both as a team player with England and as an individual.
A world under-21 singles finalist in 2008, Sutton has a near unbroken 15-year record of representing his country in various age categories. He has been a permanent fixture of the senior side since 2012 with whom he has won an amazing six World Team Championships and seven European Team Championships.
Sutton’s finest moment in the sport on his own so far came in 2016 when he was crowned European Champion in Nantes, France. He defeated opponents from seven different countries on his way to the title, culminating in an 8-3 victory over Dylan Leary in the final.
Later in the same year, the Lowestoft cueist reached his maiden World Individual Championship final at the Imperial Hotel in Blackpool. Sutton eliminated number one seed and defending champion Michael Hill in the quarter-finals and former champion Phil Harrison in the last four, but his bid for a unique world and Euro double was dashed by fellow East Anglian cueist Shaun Chipperfield.
