Rob Chilton (23)

With five professional tour titles and a European Championship to his name, Dudley dynamo Rob Chilton is one of the most respected and successful players of his generation.

Chilton enjoyed a very credible youth career and it wasn’t long after his UK Tour debut in 1994 that he claimed his first title on that circuit, eliminating the top three seeds Keith Brewer, Michael Hill and Darren Appleton in the quarters, semis and final respectively.

Having taken up county pool for just one season, Chilton earned a trial and qualified for the full England team with whom he won the 1997 World Team Championship.

Whilst in England colours, Chilton also tasted individual glory. He got the better of former world champion Kevin Wright in the final to win the French Open, and at Great Yarmouth in 1997 he denied Brewer in the final to claim the European Championship.

In 2004, Chilton’s first professional and televised triumph came at the International Pool Masters in Blackpool on Sky Sports. On his way to the prestigious title, he eliminated former world champions Carl Morris and Jason Twist before dramatically ousting Eddie Barker 10-9 in the title match, managing to compose himself in the deciding frame having led 9-5 earlier on.

“Bobby” would go on to secure four more professional event titles, a significant feat with the quality of opposition around him. He also claimed five international open tour titles and reached the number one spot in the UK rankings – an achievement he has said is his greatest.

In more recent times, Chilton reached the final of the 2019 Taom Billiards International Open.

The popular Midlander is still as dangerous as ever and no-one would be surprised if he further swells his career CV on the Ultimate Pool circuit.
